Becoming a Voluntary Prekindergarten Provider
Basic Eligibility Criteria
Providers must hold a director credential, be licensed (child care facility, family child care home, or large family child care home) or exempt from licensure (private school or faith-based provider) and must meet one of the following requirements:- Gold Seal Quality Care designated facility.
- Accredited by an approved accrediting association.
- Licensed and demonstrate to local coalition that meet program requirements.
Basic Program Requirements
- All providers can participate.
- Class size may not exceed 18 children (Provider can have multiple classrooms).
- Classroom ratio may not exceed: 1 instructor to 10 children.
- All VPK instructors must have a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) for the School Year program and a Bachelor's Degree (BS) for the Summer program.
- Curriculum must be developmental appropriate.
