Voluntary Prekindergarten
The Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program was created on January 2, 2005 to prepare every Florida four-year-old for kindergarten and build a strong foundation for their continued educational success. The VPK program provides each child the opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life with quality programs that include high literacy standards, accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes and qualified instructors.
Program Highlights
- High quality educational program with an early literacy focus.
- FREE for all children 4 years old by September 1, who reside in Florida.
- No registration fees.
- Class size will not exceed 18 children.
- Instructor to Child ratio is: 1 to 10.
- Parents have option of choosing provider that meets their own family's needs.
- Providers include:
- Public Schools
- Private Child Care Centers
- Licensed Family Child Care Homes
- All participating providers must meet or exceed the high educational standards set by Florida Law.
- School Year and Summer programs available.
Important Information Needed to Register
Proof of Child's age (i.e. Birth certificate, physician signed physical or shot record)Blue Immunization Card
Yellow Physical Form
Proof of current Florida address (i.e. Driver's license, utility bill, etc...)
